Sept. 21, 2012: Appleton Farms, Ipswich

Paula and I decided to take a walk through Appleton Farms which is the oldest (est. in 1638) continuously operating farm in the United States... now run by the Trustees of the Reservation--a preservation group in Massachusetts. You can become a member of the Appleton's Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and reap the rewards of this working farm from May until November.
Here is the main barn...

Here is the Dairy Barn...

This sugar maple shows its brilliant autumn colors.

Appleton Farms has over 658 acres of rolling pasture, agriculture and stone walls and farming fields.
No dogs allowed, just people and horses.

Definite signs of autumn!
Inside the Dairy Barn
Mooooooooooooooo
We saw vegetable, flower and herb gardens as well as chickens and a dairy. Soon, Appleton Farms will be producing cheese.
